Celebrate Yourself
5/12/2011
As much as we tip toe in life towards our destiny and seek to trespass upon eternity, sometimes we over do it. We move with so much caution that nothing else matters. Tradition becomes the focal point and when we look at ourselves we see but negativity all around.
You know one of the little unknown truths about life is that each moment counts and can never be repeated nor be relieved, they can only be remembered. So it is with our victories and achievements in life. Unless we acknowledge and appreciate them we all miss out the treasures of joy hidden in them. The worst thing we can do in life is to focus on accomplishment and not celebrate the accomplishment when we finally have it.
Instead of focusing on the stress that is in your life right now, how about focusing on the victories you've had so far. How about glowing in your past achievements a little and relieve those moments a bit. Do not get me wrong here. I do not mean that you should live in the past as some would say "trying to find comfort in history" but I believe those moments count. Those moments boost up your confidence and your energy. They affirm you about your strengths, capabilities and potential. sometimes we concentrate too much on achieving that after having achieved we are still not sure if we got it and so we become frustrated and try so hard, which ends up straining us even more, leaving us tired to have the strength to

Celebrating yourself might be taking yourself out to a good restaurant, if you have someone to go there with you and help you celebrate, the better. It might even be going away on vacation to reflect on your success and your future plan. Whatever it maybe, take every opportunity to celebrate yourself. I do not mean that you should become so obsessed with your achievements so as to become oblivious of your glaring weaknesses, but rather in view of all that needs rectification, acknowledge and congratulate yourself on your victories. This will be a reminder to you when tough times come that you are tougher than life.
The words of one of my heroes of the faith, T. D Jakes ring true as I ponder deeply:one of life's greatest tragedies is to arrive at the end of your journey and realize that you could have done more, laughed harder, played more intensely and lived more vivaciously if only you had taken the day by the throat and steered it the way you
